No. Hero Transportation serves the whole community — no Medicaid enrollment required. We accept private pay, veteran transport, workers' compensation, personal injury insurance, and facility contracts. Anyone in the Richmond, Chesterfield, and North Neck area can book a ride with us. 

Yes. Hero Transportation operates wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAV) equipped with a certified lift and four-point securement system. Our drivers are trained and certified in safe wheelchair loading, securement, and passenger assistance.

Every Hero Transportation driver is PASS-certified (Passenger Assistance Safety and Sensitivity), CPR and First Aid certified, background checked, and trained in wheelchair-accessible vehicle operation and passenger assistance. Drivers are also required to pass a motor vehicle record review and drug screening before their first trip.

All Hero Transportation vehicles carry a fully stocked first aid kit, fire extinguisher, seat belt cutter, and all required safety equipment per Virginia DMAS standards. Vehicles are regularly inspected and maintained. 

Yes. All Hero Transportation drivers wear a uniform and display their official NEMT Program ID badge, which they will show you upon arrival. 

Our rates are based on a base fee plus a per-mile charge depending on the distance of your trip. Contact us for a quote — we're happy to provide a rate for your specific route. Veterans and workers' comp clients should ask about covered transport options. 

We accept credit and debit cards, cash, and facility invoicing for contracted partners. Payment is collected at the time of service for private pay clients. 

Yes. If you are receiving workers' compensation benefits and need transport to medical appointments, Hero Transportation can work directly with your insurance adjuster or third-party administrator. Contact us with your claim information and we'll coordinate from there.
